Travel photography: New York City
I’m so excited to let you ladies know that tomorrow, I’ll be boarding a plane for New York City! I’m participating in a career development program for work, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to make the trip to Manhattan for a couple of days.
So when Jane of Jane (&) Haglund Photography sent me some gorgeous photos of one of her recent trips to the Big Apple, I knew this would be the perfect week to feature them. Jane has a knack for capturing the most beautiful moments, the little things that make the city buzz with life and vibrance. I just love her work.
Meet Jane! I asked her to share a few things about her New York vacation with us. Without further ado, here are some of her recommendations, as well as some beautiful images from her trip.
I went to NYC with three of my girlfriends to celebrate a finished cooperation (together we arranged a small training event, www.bloggerbootcamp.se), and NYC is really suited for that kind of trip! A lot to explore, a lot to see, a lot of shopping… ;) My strongest recommendation is to bring good walking shoes, because you’re hopefully going to walk A LOT. I also really recommend to hire bikes and get around town that way – you get to see a lot in a very nice and healthy way.
NYC is really a place you need to visit. And revisit. On the first trip there, you’re often busy with seeing all the “musts,” like the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty and so on. That’s of course cool, nice and everything. But the second or third trip is actually cooler in a way. Or at least it has been to me. Then you can really consume the NYC feeling and just go with the flow. Stroll around and see the small things. Getting to know the city for real. I just LOVE that!! And I would say that would be my best highlights from that trip: all the small things and getting to know the city. And of course the food. Ah! The food!!
The restaurant below is Pastis, located on Ninth Avenue. The food and coffee look delicious! I’m not one who can resist a foamy cappuccino or a stack of buttermilk pancakes. Breakfast is my weakness.
You ladies might recognize the restaurant below: It’s Buddakan, the same spot where Carrie and Mr. Big had their rehearsal dinner in the Sex and the City movie! (So New York.)
The ladies had cocktails at The Standard Grill, a lovely restaurant in an elegant, industrial space.
This dog in the photo below just cracks me up every time I look at him. He doesn’t look very happy about wearing those booties.
Jane, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful photography with us today! If it’s possible, I’m even more excited about my upcoming trip to the Big Apple! Be sure to head over to Jane’s website and check out some more of her stunning images. You might even see a wedding of hers on the blog in the next couple of weeks!
Happy travels!
