Welcome to Far and Far Away, a travel blog for women. If you’re like me, your life infused with a sense of wonder about the world around you, and a love for adventures near and far, I think you’ll enjoy this little corner of the Internet.
Here’s a little Q&A, so you can learn a little bit about me and this site!
Who curates this blog?
My name is Megan Leader. By day, I’m an editor for a U.S. travel media company. By night, I blog on this lovely site and research travel, photography and design. I’ve lived abroad twice: in Florence, Italy, and in Prague, Czech Republic. Travel is exhilarating for me; it’s magical to see and be a part of other cultures, and it deepens my understanding of the world. I currently live in the greater New York City area and travel as often as my finances and schedule allow. I have a wonderful husband and a crazy white German Shepherd.
What can I expect to see on this site?
You can expect a good amount of content created by yours truly, mostly travel tips, travel inspiration, destination weddings, photographs and style posts. I also plan to feature some great travel photographers, bloggers, writers and study abroad students that I connect with. Got an idea to pitch or some photos you’d like to see featured here? E-mail info @ farandfaraway.com and let us know!
What’s your travel philosophy?
I believe that travel should be approached lightly, with a sense of curiosity and spontaneity. Yes, it’s important to know the history of a place and to have a travel plan, but always leave yourself time to explore and amble. I also believe in embracing your host culture and trying to adapt to it as much as possible, rather than stubbornly clinging to what you’re used to. I also think that travel should be a priority for individuals, couples and families. Nothing brings people together like sharing a beautiful new experience.
